【Twitter】bit.lyクリック統計数急減の原因

最近、Twitterのつぶやきの中のbit.ly短縮リンクのクリック数が以前より大分減っている。不思議に思って、ほかのTwitterパワーユーザに聞いたら、そんなそもそも信用していないみたい。利用者が圧倒的に多いと感じるbit.lyには不安定な統計があるまいと思い、bit.lyのサポートに質問を投げてみた。そうしたら、こういう返信が戻ってきた。

In recent weeks, we've updated our bot filters in order to better reflect genuine user traffic.  A large number of automated bots tend to access bit.ly links for search engine indexing purposes, data mining efforts, and many other things.  While there is some value in this traffic, and we may expose it as a separate statistic at some point in the future, there are currently no known issues with our current metrics system at this time, and everything is functioning as intended.

要は、数週間前からボットアクセスフィルターをアップデートし、真のユーザトラフィックのみを反映するようになったということ。今までは、検索や分析のためのボットによるアクセスが多かったが、今はカウントされないようになったので、アクセス数が減ったという説明だ。
