ROI=Return of Idealismとビル・ゲイツはのたまう

Tech Flashの記事によると、ビル・ゲイツによるROIの新しい定義は、"Return on Investment"ではなく、"Return on Idealism"とのこと。投資の回収ではなく、理想を追求することによる成果、とでも訳すのがいいだろうか？

Investing in innovation to tackle social problems is a great way for businesses to stand out and be noticed, particularly as a growing number of consumers use the power of their pocketbook to support companies that are investing in a better society.
（企業が社会問題に取り組むためのイノベーションに投資するのは、自社を差別化するのに最適だ。特に、よりよい社会のために投資する会社を支援しようとする消費者が増えている現在では。）

Businesses that do good work will also find it easier to recruit and retain great employees. People today—especially young people—want to work for organizations they feel good about.
（社会貢献する企業は、優秀な人材を採用する点でも優位に立てる。特に現代の若者は、自分が誇れる団体で働きたいと思っているのだから。）

会社が大きくなってから、とか、利益が存分にあがってから、とかいう条件をつけるのではなく、起業時から社会貢献を自社のDNAに組み込むべきだ、というのが、ビルのメッセージでした。
