今朝はビル・ゲイツからメールが

届いてびっくり。

よく読むと、Microsoft Alumni Network のメンバー宛だった。そういえば、ビルも
”元”マイクロソフト社員になったのだ。

I am writing to share with you my first letter about working at the Gates Foundation. I'm eager to tell you about some of the amazing progress in health and education that is helping millions of people improve their lives. Each year I plan to write about what has gone well, what hasn't, and what we are learning along with our partners.

Despite the unprecedented economic downturn we are in, I remain fundamentally optimistic about the years ahead. I feel sure I will have lots of success stories to share in the future, and thank you for taking the time to read my letter.

「マイクロソフト時代はビジネスをする相手国は大抵比較的発展した国だった。一方ゲイツ財団の取り組む国は発展途上にある国。忍耐が要求される。」とのこと。

そうですよ。進捗状況が当初計画より遅れているからといって、昔のように、現地の人たちとの会議で机を叩きつけたり、壁を蹴っ飛ばしたりしないでくださいね。
