ツイッターに新しい収益源，広告トレンド "Promoted Trends"
ツイッターが新たな広告サービス，Promoted Trendsを開始する予定だと複数ブログメディア（記事元： D|All Thing Digital, Mashable, SilliconAlleyInsider, VentureBeat）が報じている。

このPromoted Trendsとは，ツイッターページ右下にある「Trending Topics」内に挿入される広告トレンドだ。
このトレンドキーワードがクリックされるとツイート内検索結果が出力されるわけだが，その検索結果の先頭に"Promoted Tweets"が表示されることになる。つまり単体の広告商品ではなく，Promoted Tweetsとの合わせ技というわけだ。

なお，ツイッター社のPR責任者であるSean Garrette氏は次のように述べたとブログメディアは記している。
“As we have always said, we plan to test different advertising and promotional models in these early stages of our monetization efforts for both user and brand value. As part of this effort, we will likely test trends clearly marked as “promoted” for an undefined period of time. Assuming that we do, during this test, there will only be one visible at a time.”
