【冬休みの宿題その２】AzureをCTPから本番環境に移行しておくこと

CTPに登録しているみなさまには、下記メールが届いていると思われる。
「英語だから面倒で」と読み飛ばさないで頂きたい。Subjectにあるとおり、
重要なお知らせだ。

以下、Azureチームからのメール全文を掲載しておく。

IMPORTANT NOTICE – Windows Azure Platform CTP Upgrade Path

Greetings from the Windows Azure Platform Team!

We hope you have been enjoying your participation in one or more of our Community Technology Previews (CTPs) of the Windows Azure^TM platform (i.e. Windows Azure, SQL Azure and/or Windows Azure platform AppFabric). The feedback from these CTPs has proven invaluable in enhancing our services and we appreciate your participation.

Beginning on January 4, 2010, you will have the opportunity to upgrade from your CTP account(s) to a commercial subscription of the Windows Azure platform. If you upgrade your CTP account(s) during the month of January, 2010, all Windows Azure platform usage incurred during this month will be at no charge*. You also will have visibility during this month to your usage to assist in estimating your future usage charges. In addition, those who upgrade will not be charged for their Windows Azure platform AppFabric usage until April 9, 2010*.

To upgrade to a commercial subscription, you must have a billing location in one of our initial launch countries listed below:

Austria, France, Italy, Norway, Sweden,Belgium, Germany,
Japan, Portugal, Switzerland, Canada, Ireland, Netherlands,
Singapore, UK, Denmark, India, New Zealand, Spain,
United States, Finland

During the first week of January 2010, you will receive an email to this account with detailed upgrade instructions. You will then have until January 31, 2010 to upgrade. If you elect not to upgrade, on February 1, 2010 your CTP account(s) will be disabled and any Windows Azure Storage will be made read-only. SQL Azure CTP accounts will be able to keep using their existing databases but will no longer be able to create new databases. On March 1, 2010, the SQL Azure CTP accounts that have not been upgraded will be deleted. On April 1, 2010, the Windows Azure Storage CTP accounts that have not been upgraded will be deleted. It is important to export your data if you do not plan to upgrade to a commercial subscription prior to these dates.

If you have any questions regarding the upgrade process, please feel free to contact customer support. If you are participating in the Microsoft Codename "Dallas" CTP, your service remains in CTP and is not impacted by this announcement.

さて、解説不要なほどシンプルな内容だとは思うが念のため。

Azureにデプロイしている環境の移行は可能な限り2010年1月中に
しておいていただきたい。2月になるとストレージが読取専用になり
4月になると容赦なく消し去ってしまうというアラート。

SQL Azureについても2月以降CTP環境で新規のデータベース作成が
出来なくなり、3月になっても本番に移行していないデータベースは
削除される。「データの移行やExportは忘れずに」というご案内だ。

また、名称が変わったAppFabricについては4月9日まで課金されない
というちょっと嬉しいお知らせも含まれている。

肝心な本番環境へのアップグレード方法は年明け最初の週に追って
メールするという言及にとどめているのでここでもあまり先出しは
しないようにしておくが、冬休みに向けて留意頂きたい点を３つほど。

1. 2010年1月4日（おそらく太平洋標準時）になったら、Azure本番
  環境への登録が可能になるはずなので、新しモノ好きを自称する
  みなさんは、一番乗り目指して是非試してみて頂きたい。人気が
  高そうなサービス名ねらいもまた一興。

2. 1月中は一切のコストチャージがかからないのだが、クレジット
  カードが必要になるので、オンライン決済などで使用している
  ものを用意しておこう。仕事でAzureを使う予定でコーポレート
  カードが支給されている場合は問題ないだろうが。

3. 会社でMSDNサブスクリプションがある場合には、裏工作して
  サブスクリプションの自分の管轄になるように引き寄せておく。

最後のポイントは弄り倒すAzure環境が常に必要な場合には重要だ。
Smallのシングルインスタンスを動かしっぱなしにしていても課金
されないだけの無償利用枠がMSDNサブスクリプション特典として
ついてくるためだ。大手企業にお勤めのみなさまは一括購買などの
影響で購買とアカウント管理が複雑になってしまっていることが
多いようなので、うまく立ち回って頂きたい。

ちなみに、ここに記載した案内は、CTPに参加している開発者を
前提としたものであり、CTPに参加していない方は1月4日以降
「ご新規」で登録していただくことになる。

CTP期間も残り6日しかないが、トークンの入手や登録はまだ
間に合うのでこちらの投稿を参照の上、年内有効のCTP用
開発トークンをゲットして迎春とWindows Azureのサービス開始を
共に祝って頂きたい。
