世界の食料危機を救う鍵は女性への投資？

3月8日は国際女性デー（International Women's Day)だったそうな。いろいろなメディアで女性の就労率などが取り上げていたのは、そのせいだったのか。

Half of all farmers in the developing world are women, and women farmers can grow 30% more food if they have access to the same resources as men. By helping women farmers boost production, we could reduce global hunger by 150 million people....

(発展途上国の農業従事者の半分は女性。彼女たちが男性と同じだけの資源を持てば、生産性は30％上昇する。女性の農業従事者の生産性を高めることにより、世界中で１億５千万人もの人々を食糧難から救うことができる。）

こうして具体的な数値をあげて、発展途上国の女性農業従事者への投資を説くのは、Bill & Melinda Foundation。
