Gawker Offers $100,000 To Play With The Apple Tablet For An Hour（Silicon Alley Insider)
Gawker Media is taking checkbook gadget journalism to a
new level. It's offering up a hundred grand to anyone that
can get it access of the Apple tablet.
Gawker Mediaは小切手ジャーナリズムを新たなステージへ
発展させた。誰でも10万ドルでApple tabletにアクセスできる
というのだ。
条件は以下の通り。
- $10,000 for bona fide pictures
- $20,000 for video of one in action
- $50,000 for pictures or video of Steve Jobs holding one
- $100,000 to let us play with one for an hour
100万円：正真正銘の写真
200万円：アクションシーン（動画）
500万円：スティーブ・ジョブスによるアクションシーン（写真・動画）
1000万円：1時間好きにして
The scavenger hunt lasts until the tablet is officially unveiled,
which should happen on January 27. Gawker promises it will go to
"spycraft-level lengths to prevent anything being traced back to you."
好評はされていないが、このスカベンジャーハントはタブレット発表日、
つまり1月27日まで続くと思われる。Gawker Mediaも、これがあれば
他社を出し抜けますよ、としている。

メディア企業に勤めていながら、小切手ジャーナリズム（checkbook
journalism）の存在を初めて知りました。大きな衝撃です。
前回、タブレットの発表日や発売日程についてのニュースも、
情報源がWSJしかなかったりと、Appleは報道のさいもいろいろと
こだわりがあるようですね。

iPhoneのアップデートが最近ないって？Tabletのせいでしょ、多分。
It’s been over three months since Apple last updated the iPhone
OS to
version 3.1.2. And while that’s not an unheard of amount of
time
between updates, it is quite a bit of time to go without any word
that
a new update is coming soon. Why? It could be because Apple
doesn’t
want to tip its hand about any information about the upcoming
tablet, a
new report today suggests.
Appleが最後にiPhone OSを3.1.2にアップデートしてから、早3ヶ月。
それだけでも聞いたことないくらい長いのに、どうやら、「まもなく
アップデート」という言葉もなしにもうすこしかかりそうである。
なぜならば、Appleがまもなく登場するTabletの情報がもれることを
望んでいないからだ。
Boy GeniusがApple関係者から聞いた内容によると、
“There hasn’t been an updated iPhone OS build because there’s
too
much tablet-related code/references in the OS and Apple
obviously
didn’t want that to leak. Oops,”
ということらしい。Apple tabletについては
It is expected to have an ARM processor, not an Intel Atom or
Pine
Trail CPU. Most people now seem to agree that it will not
run a full
version of OS X, as that might be overkill for this kind of gadget.
IntelのAtomでもなくPine
Trail CPUでもなく、ARM processorが搭載される
と予想されています。full versionのOS Xははしらないようです。
このあたりの技術的お話は疎いのでご勘弁を。
