In the end, Google and Android will own the smartphone market.
It won’t happen this year and it may not even happen in 2012
but the day is coming when Android becomes the de facto standard
for smartphones.

最終的には、アンドロイドがスマートフォン市場を占有するだろう。
それは2011年でもなく、もしかしたら2012年でもない。
しかしアンドロイドが事実上の標準となる日は来るだろう。

While product in pipeline is also nice, I think the real value is
in the software. At CES we saw Dell and Lenovo releasing
Android phones running Android but without – and this is
important – major Google branding or applications. This is,
in the end, why Android will soon rule the roost: carriers can
remove functions as it sees fit, thereby creating entirely new
versions of the OS and UI for their own purposes.

さて、その理由はというと、製造過程もそうなのだが、一番のバリューは
ソフトウェアにあるとしている。CESでデルやLenovoが主要のアプリケーションを
のぞいた端末を発表していたことからもわかるように、キャリアは端末に
フィットするように機能を取り除くこともできる。それゆえ、それぞれの
目的に従って新たなOSやUIの価値を生み出せる。とのこと。

これだけでは少しわかりにくいですね。後日調べてみます。

もちろん問題もあって、OSについてはGoogle縛りがあるということろ。
OSのバージョンがかわるたびに、マーケットがセグメント化されるのは、
製造側も避けたいところ。

本日ご紹介するもうひとつの記事、Google street view.もそうですが、
もはやGoogleの守備範囲が広すぎるので、私も「スマートフォン市場を
征する」という点については同意です。

beckons you, replacing the obsolete ad that was originally on the

イメージしてください。あなたはストリートビューの中のお気に入りの
場所を散歩しています。あなたは通りの近くのビルに”Xはいかが？”
という広告を偶然見つけます。グーグルカーが撮影したリアルの広告
とは違って、あなたはふらふらとよっていくでしょうね。

ということが現実になりつつあるようです。もちろん実現にいたって
問題はたくさんあるようですが。例えばバーチャルの広告掲示板は
誰のもの？とか。今後のグーグルの戦略を見守ることにします。

見られていますね、学生のころの大流行したmixiくらい人気ですね。
