米調査会社のガートナーは2018年8月16日、「先進テクノロジのハイプ・サイクル 2018（Hype Cycle for Emerging Technologies, 2018）」を公表しました。

「過度な期待のピーク期（Peak of Inflated Expectations）」にきているのが、

Autonomous Mobile Robots、Brain-Computer Interface、Smart Workspace、Biochips、Digital Twin、Deep Neural Nets (Deep Learning)、Carbon Nanotube、IoT Platform、Virtual Assistants

などとなっています。

「幻滅期（Trough of Disillusionment）」にあるのが、

Connected Home、Autonomous Driving Level 4、Mixed Reality、Smart Fabrics、Augmented Reality

などとなっています。

一方、「黎明期（Innovation Trigger）」にあるのが、
